The answer is “YES”.

Healing happens on various levels – emotional, physical, mental and spiritual. So when we begin to heal, we need to address these different aspects of ourselves.

One person who understands this and travels the world over is Mr Dominique Bourlet. Born in France, Dominique has spent the last decade honing his craft and meeting with healing Masters the world over. In particular, he has spent extended periods in the Phillipines and Bali, Indonesia, learning from the local practitioners.

“I am an Energy Hairdresser,” declares Dominique when asked exactly what he does!

He combines various techniques and has ddeveloped a few of his own. Two which are so innovative are ASIFU, which stands for Asian Fusion and Hello BOP, standing for body part.

If you are in need of healing:

Have you recently broken up from a long term relationship?

Have you got a long term illness in your body?

Have you recently had an accident causing your body trauma?

Need healing in relationships?

No matter what your issue, Mr Dominique Bourlet comes highly recommended.

I recently interviewed him while on holiday in Bali!

On Christmas Day 2004, my husband and I together with our four children set off to Phuket, Thailand for a family holiday.

We arrived in the afternoon on Christmas Day. We checked into our hotel, the Patong Beach Hotel, unpacked and made one quick phonecall, prior to setting off to enjoy the busy streets of Phuket.

My husband and I had been to Phuket many times and had become close friends with a Thai family on our previous visits. Now we had brought our four children with us to meet this family. We had talked about doing this for a number of years. The phonecall had been to this Thai man. We had made arrangements to meet him the following day, being Boxing Day, in the afternoon.

The next morning I was woken by a strange movement of our bed shaking, I had a very eerie feeling. My husband was also woken by this movement. We decided to ring our Thai friend and ask if he would like to meet us in the morning instead of the afternoon. He agreed. We woke all the children and told them to quickly get dressed, as the plans had changed. We went down for breakfast, without our money or personnel belongings, and within 30 minutes, our Thai friend arrived albeit a little early. We thought we would just be saying hello, and then meet up again for our evening meal with him and his family, but he insisted we get in his car and take us for a drive. The children hesitated as they had no money with them or even any shoes on. I quickly replied “Don’t worry, we will only be gone for a little while, so let’s go.”

Our friend was a taxi driver and owned a tut tut which is like an enclosed small ute. He took us out of the busy Patong strip, to a quieter location at another beach.

We stopped at a small village restaurant where we all got out and sat down. We ordered a drink each and started to catch up with our good friend.

Before long there was noise, then screaming. It was getting louder. We looked up to see people running. We had no idea what was happening, we stood up to have a look, and to ask people what was all the commotion. Someone yelled “Run, big water.” As we looked towards the road to the left of us, to our horror it was a wall of dirty water, filled with cars debris and bodies coming our way. We ran to the car which was parked on a slight hill, which gave us enough time to run so the water would slow down. As we sat in the back of the tut tut, safe we watched behind us as the wave took many lives.

It was the 2004 Boxing Day Tsunami.

*******************************

Stay tuned for the next post where Fran shares the impact of PTSD on her own life and how she has overcome it.

What is spiritual healing?

Over the years this question has been a constant. One I put to groups of students often in various forms.

What is the relationship between mental, physical, emotional and spiritual aspects of yourself or life in general?

Responses reveal the different paradigms or perceptions people have of life. They also reveal how people process information and learning strategies or styles. For example someone who sees the world more visually, such as an artist, will most often give a pictorial explanation, while someone with a mathematical, logical preference may show the relationship graphically. Social science types may show a flow chart over time or a mind map with notes to differentiate each aspect. People with differing religions may draw a picture of Buddha meditating in his lotus position or Jesus preaching.

For me these are all intertwined. One aspect is intimately integrated with another. For example, someone who has mental toughness and yet has no relationship with God (infinite intelligence) will only ever operate on the physical plane and when his mental (and often physical) toughness fails, he will collapse.

In recent decades in Western culture the focus has been on physical and mental teaching. This can easily be seen with the typical school syllabus

maths

science

reading/writing

physical education

There has traditionally been no allowance for encouraging the development of emotional intelligence. Previously spiritual intelligence may have been encouraged through religious education in school however over the years there has been an absolute decline and largely due to the failure of the teachers in this area – ie the flawed religious leaders getting in the way of the personal relationship between the individual and God.

I am an advocate for a holistic view of life to incorporate mental, physical, emotional and spiritual teachings. I also advocate developing your financial intelligence. How are we able to help the poor if we are one of them. Of course one person can make a difference however burn out is a natural consequence for us mere mortals who have to work to earn a living then add various volunteering tasks on to a busy work schedule, running a household, family and other day to day responsibilities. Why not become wealthy and employ others to also help, perhaps begin your own foundation or duplicate yourself such as with the Pay It Forward phenomena.

With more money we are able to help more people. Although the purpose or passion comes first in many cases, then the money will come. Or as in the Kevin Costner movie ‘Build It and They Will Come’. While others spend the first half of their life accumulating wealth and the second half giving it away – an extreme example of this is Bill Gates of Microsoft fame, who has given millions to various charities including running his own foundation with his wife.

So spiritual healing, I believe should be right up there. When we are still and go within, we can recognize that there are usually two voices in our head – one is the inner critic who rears it’s ugly head when we are out of balance in our lives. The second is the encourager who tells us we CAN do it! Depending on your own paradigm, we may even say the good one is our guardian angel while the other is the little devil trying to get us into trouble. Anyone ever been around two little boys getting up to mischief – perhaps you can understand this one When we listen to our higher selves, our guardian angels or our encourager we will know what to do and know if it is the right thing to do.

I am pleased to announce that very soon on this site will be available the inspiring interview with Mr Dominique Bourlet, who not only lives and breathes healing on an international scale through his practice and training workshops and his books, but also his commitment to lifelong learning and honing his craft to the absolute highest level. For me, the reason he stands out apart from so many others is his commitment to spiritual healing.

In this interivew, Mr Bourlet, shares his story and background of his transformation into a gifted healer and his experiences with Phillipino and Balinese spiritual healers.

Over the past eighteen months or so, much of my focus has been on seeking the keys to success. Research has involved reading many books, listening to audios, attending conferences and most importantly putting into practice the knowledge I am learning every day.

In some ways I am feeling like a feather or a blossom, which is being carried higher and higher, by the eddying of the wind. As I am surrounded by increasingly more successful people and reconnecting with old friends with a common interest in opening your mind, the more success for me, remains a matter of the heart, and wisdom.

Your heart is the seat of your emotions. Clarity continues with quotes from such successful people as Dr Stephen Covey:

“ … Rebellion is a knot of the heart, not of the mind. The key is to make deposits – constant deposits of unconditional love.”
Seven Habits of Highly Successful People

I choose to be teachable in all areas of my life. I no longer want rebellion or its consequences. For some the opening of the heart is a physical impossibility, due to the hardships suffered from abuse or abandonment, particularly in early childhood. I know first-hand that inviting God into your heart allows for his supernatural grace to come in and change you from the inside. I remain grateful every day to Him first who has always been knocking at my door and continued to pursue me, even when I had the door jammed shut against him for the longest time.

Emotional Intelligence
When I first read the book ‘Raising Your Emotional Intelligence’, by Jeanne Segal, PhD, I am not ashamed to say that I wasn’t even on the scale. Even then I did not choose to do anything about it for another few years. Yes, I have been a slow learner in so many ways with the hardest of heads! This however, finally, has become the catalyst for my passion to share my own suffering with others, in the hopes that those interested, can choose to learn from another’s example and not from doing it tough.

As a Life Coach, in 2010, I decided to ‘walk the talk’, so have joined a program where I also am coached, by one of the best. Much of what I am learning is repetition of what I already know and have known, in some cases for over twenty years. Perhaps one of the big differences now is that I am paying for it, thus sacrificing time, energy and finances to really blast out any blockages that have been holding me back. Rather than being mentored from afar, this program involves conferences and workshops where I am also held accountable. No more excuses.

So by becoming emotionally adept, already my life, both personally and professionally has recently been on turbo-charge. Fortunately I have also been working on increasing my energy levels!

Financial Intelligence
Financial intelligence is not something that working, and to a large extent even the middle class, talks about or thinks about. One only has to turn on the television to hear all the stories of doom and gloom. I have known for some years that there are no Financial Crises in God’s economy, and yet I was still struggling financially on an ongoing basis. Blessings would come and go, however the real life changing revolution hadn’t begun. Over the last eighteen months, there has been a deliberate shift to learning about living an abundant life in all areas, including making money. My highest recommendations go to the classics such as Napoleon Hill’s ‘Think and Grow Rich’, Dale Carnegie’s ‘How To Win Friends and Influence People’, and Robert Kiyosaki’s ‘Rich Dad, Poor Dad’.

Recently I was also challenged to make my own Personal Mission Statement. After much thought:

“I choose to live a balanced life of abundance. By helping others get what they want, I get what I want – success, which is love, peace, joy, hope, great health, financial freedom, and living a life of purpose.”

So with all this new intelligence and wisdom (wisdom being applied knowledge) and faith, miracles are happening daily. Daily, or should I say nightly, ideas come to me constantly. Then when I implement them, it feels good and I am more able to bless others.

Have you had similar results rocketing in your world? Let your personal testimony inspire others. Comment here and let’s start a chat.

One book I have been reading is Florence Schovel Shinn’s ‘The Game of Life’. I invite you to join with me in casting off burdens and welcoming joy back into your life in this new decade.
“I cast off the burden of __________ and am free to be ______________.”
eg my first one was ‘I cast off the burden of singledom and am free to be loving, peaceful and joyous.’

God bless us all with his abundant blessings this year.

Hi – sorry for the absenteeism lately. I have been having some technical issues, moving country… many things happening.

However I have been aware of things happening around the world.
Today I am especially grateful for the traveling team of Canadians who are working with Living Waters doing 2 day workshops on overcoming abuse and addictions. I saw them in Bali Indonesia then they were off to the Philipines.

It was also so heartening to see so many young people so passionate not only about God but walking the talk by spending time especially with slum kids in Bali, Indonesia. Thank you guys from YWAM (Youth with a mission), you are making a difference not only for the kids but also for those adults around you who see and feel your passion.

Recently there have been a number of hiccups not so much in my life but of those around me, including two deaths. Both people I hadn’t seen for some time, one even a few years. One lady was older about eighty and the other man wasn’t even forty years old. I wonder how anyone can not make the most of every day or wait for something.

In particular I wonder if the young man ever did meet anyone. I wonder – Was he happy with his life? Was he fulfilled?

In my life one guide I have used is that I ask myself this question “what would I do if my circumstances were different? ” For example, if more finances were available or if I was in a loving, commited relationship. Then usually after careful, but not long, consideration I choose to do whatever the answer to that question was, regardless of the hurdles to leap over. I remember reading a women’s magazine probably twenty years ago which had a list of achievements for ‘the accomplished woman’. The list included such things as learning a foreign language, living overseas, do a univeristy degree. Well I have done all those things and yet every day there is always so much more to do.

Recently I received an email from someone thanking me for the inspirational words in this website. However I am so thankful that even when someone is going through an experience others might see as a living hell, such as the aftermath of huge natural disasters in the Phillipines this season, that someone takes the time to contact me. I am humbled.

Although it is my intention to offer hope on this website by collecting quotes, videos and more, it is inspiring for me to know that what I do in my own small way has made a difference in someone else’s life.

Life is short. Make it happen today!!!

This is a quote that I just read this morning from the daughter of the amazing Zig Ziglar, Julie Ziglar Norman. I really like this blog as I have often wondered what it would be like to grow up around someone like Zig Ziglar who is larger than life!!!

Julie is talking about your purpose in life and says she learned this from one of her pastors “You don’t have to go looking for the purpose God has for your life. He will put it right in front of you. But, you do have to be available, you do have to be willing, and you do have to be obedient so you can recognize and accept the responsibility for what He wants you to do.”

To many people wirting is not nice! To others it is therapy or sunshine on a rainy day.

For me I write for many different purposes:

on a professional level:

I love to work with a group of people for a common goal and bring together the different aspects waiting to be realised. Often this has been via funding submissions for particular projects with a capacity building focus in the areas of heritage, culture, arts, educational, sporting and recreational. Of course each of these has an aspect of bringing together different parts of the community and empowering minority groups such as Aboriginal people, women, or migrant groups.

Other professional writing projects I really enjoy are much smaller and could even be interviewing and writing articles about topics of interest for certain groups of people. Over recent years this has most regularly been for business and economic development. Soon I aim to complete at least one e-book on a series of interviews for expat business people on the island of Bali.

On a personal level I sometimes use it for therapy or to record details such as with journalling which I highly recommend. Especially when I cannot sleep or I am too busy or both, journalling is fantastic to work out how I feel about things in my life or to de-clutter or prioritise.

Putting pen to paper or these days more often fingers to the keyboard has definite benefits!
